EMC Momentum 2016 Creative
Four years and counting…
This was the fourth year that CGI has been a part of EMC World Momentum and it was a blast to work on once again. The theme this year was ‘Beyond’. A simple word that could be used in so many different ways. After looking at other creative in the tech industry, we decided to go in a direction that would stand out…expansive landscapes. The theme represented the notion of pushing beyond what you’ve done in the past and enjoying the climb.
CGI worked on everything from promotional videos and the event website to booth creative, keynote presentations and more.
We teamed up with our favorite crew at Guy Bauer Productions to create a series of promotional videos for Momentum. These videos follow two ultimate fanboys of Momentum as they prepare for another year at EMC World. Guy’s team did a fantastic job pulling these together and even brought the two fans with us to Vegas!
When designing the event site, the ability to do flexible updates was a key requirement. The sortable grid structure was chosen to make updates easy while providing the opportunity to use the same structure to add event photos and videos after the show. We designed five basic block styles so that the client could easily add content as we approached Momentum.
While reusing the same booth from the last three years can save costs, it can be a challenge to find new ways to make it fresh. We suggested having a full booth graphic break out above top edge to really change the feeling of the exhibit. With a full image on the booth, we went with simple punches of color and some light content on all of the 80″ portrait screens in the booth. These four screens featured content for the eleven demo stations.
As always working with Rohit and team was an absolute pleasure. With the extreme wide center screen and two wing screens, the keynote experience was pretty fantastic for the audience. We created an intro video that dove into the ‘Beyond’ theme and set the stage for Rohit’s opening story. We also created a video for the announcement of Leap, a new product from the Enterprise Content Division of EMC. Add a few fun scenarios for the product demo and, all in all, the keynote was a big success.
The main challenge we faced was working with three separate PowerPoint files, one for each screen. In order to really get a sense for how the presentation would pull together, we created a mockup that helped us understand what it would look like at the event.
